Week commencing 27 July 2026

During the week commencing 27 July 2026, the Undercover Policing Inquiry was the only public inquiry to sit. It heard evidence over four days, Monday 27 to Thursday 30 July, in Tranche 3 (Phase 3), taking the phase to its thirtieth hearing day. The witnesses were HN144 Sir David Veness on 27 July, HN145 Janet Williams on 28 July, HN314 Julian McKinney on 29 July and HN773 Jon Boutcher on 30 July. The Inquiry has not listed further hearing dates, and states that it is reviewing its programme and timetable in full, with dates for its Tranche 4, Senior Officer and HMG knowledge, and Tranche 5 hearings to be published once confirmed.

The two inquiries that sat the previous week had both reached the end of a hearing block. The Lampard Inquiry concluded its July 2026 sessions on 23 July and next sits on 5 October. The Omagh Bombing Inquiry held a procedural hearing on 20 July and states that it will next sit in September.
