Coroner’s Concerns
(1) There have been several incidents and 2 fatalities on this road. Residents have campaigned for road calming measures and parking restrictions and appropriate crossing measures which have not been introduced. I am concerned about the safety of this road given it is a residential area.

Over the years, we have worked closely with your office and the West Mldlands Pollce to follow the outcome of Inquests and out Improvements to publlc hlghway In order to reduce the potential for the reoccurrence of serious road collisions. Blrmlngham Council regrets any loss of life on the Cily's roads and Is working towards reduclng road accident casuallies across the City through education; englneering, enforcement and highway Improvement programme of works every year: The Council's Local Safety Scheme Programme team monitors all reported Injury accident casualtlas and the locatlons with adverse accldent records are then selected for detailed assessments and potential hlghway Improvement proposals to reduce the likelihood of reoccurrence of Injury accidents. Investigation and Inquest
On 11 November 2013 I commenced an investigation into the death of Saleh Ali Dalie. The investigation concluded at the end of the inquest on 4th March 2014. The conclusion of the inquest was road traffic collision.
Circumstances of the Death
The deceased came out of his house on Kyotts Lake Road and went to cross the road to attend his local mosque. He entered the road between parked cars and was he was hit by a van. He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he later died from his injuries.
