Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s failure to contact the complainant at their correspondence address. We cannot achieve the £25,000 financial compensation the complainant is seeking. Such compensation claims are matters for the courts.

Summary: Mr D complained about the support provided to his daughter who lives in supported living accommodation. We found some fault in the Council’s service provision and communications. This resulted in some avoidable distress and frustration for Mr D and his daughter. The Council has accepted these findings and at the end of this statement, we set out action it has agreed to remedy this injustice.

Summary: Mr X complains about inadequate record keeping and poor responses to requests for information by two mental health providers. In addition, Mr X complains about failings in the process of applying for Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. We will not investigate the complaint because parts are late, parts have already been considered by the courts, parts would be better considered elsewhere and it would be too soon to consider other issues.

Summary: Miss X complains the Council failed to properly consider her homelessness application, and failed to consider its duty to her when she was homeless. Miss X also complains the Council did not comply with homelessness legislation, which resulted in her not having support when she needed it. The Ombudsman finds fault with the Council for its consideration of Miss X’s homelessness application and delaying its acceptance of a prevention duty to her. The Council has agreed to make a financial payment and carry out service improvements.

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s consideration of a planning application and the subsequent complaint. We have not seen sufficient evidence of fault causing the complainant a significant personal injustice to warrant an investigation.

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint that the Council released confidential data during a meeting. This is because this is best dealt with by the Information Commissioner's Office.

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the standard of care Mr X has received. This is because the Council has conducted a satisfactory investigation and taken action to address Mr X’s concerns. An investigation would therefore be unlikely to result in a different outcome.

Summary: Mr X complains the Council has failed to meet his care and support needs and, despite agreeing to reassess them in January 2024, it has failed to do so. The Council has delayed in reassessing Mr X’s needs. It needs to reassess his need for care and support under the Care Act 2014 without further delay.

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the way Mr B was treated by his Care Provider. This is because we could not make a different finding to that already given by his Care Provider who has apologised for the distress caused to him. We are satisfied an apology remedies any injustice caused to him from the Care Provider’s actions.

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s decision to manage the person’s needs in the Mental Health Team. This is because there is not enough evidence of fault in the Council’s actions to warrant an Ombudsman investigation. Without fault in the way it made a decision, we cannot question the decision itself.
