Summary: We will not investigate Mr X’s complaint about the Council’s handling of matters relating to his children. There is not enough evidence of fault to justify our involvement.

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the way the Council processed a planning application. We have already considered this complaint and issued our decision. We will not reinvestigate this matter. The complainant also raises concerns about the way the Council dealt with their complaint. We consider it is not a good use of public resources to investigate complaints about complaint procedures, if we are unable to deal with the substantive issue.

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about trading standards because further investigation would not lead to a different outcome and any remaining injustice is not significant enough to justify our involvement.

Summary: Mrs F complained the Council delayed reassessing her son’s education, health and care needs and failed to put alternative provision in place. We found fault. The Council has agreed to make a payment to remedy the injustice caused.

Mr X complained the Council failed to provide him with appropriate support with his homelessness and to complete a Care Act assessment. He also complained the Council did not properly consider his complaint about these matters. We did not find the Council at fault.

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint that the Council is at fault in refusing to accept that is has placed a looked after child with the complainant. This is because there is no evidence of fault on the Council’s part.

Summary: We will not investigate Ms X’s complaint about Special Educational Needs provision and the content of an Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan. There is insufficient evidence of fault and Ms X has a right of appeal to a tribunal if she is unhappy with the content of the EHC Plan.

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about what happened when Ms X was adopted in the 1970s. This is because the complaint is late, and the issues raised took placed too long ago for us to now properly investigate. The police are the appropriate body to investigate crimes and a claim for compensation needs to be considered by the courts.

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about how the Council dealt with the complainant’s planning applications. This is because it is unlikely an investigation would add to the Council’s response or achieve anything more for the complainant.

Summary: Mr X complained the Council failed to keep its list of streets up to date and correct. We find the Council at fault for not making a timely decision on whether to update its list of streets. The Council has agreed to apologise to Mr X and provide him with an action plan for its next steps.

Summary: Mr X complained on behalf of his son, Mr Y, that the Council failed to provide him with interim accommodation when he presented as homeless. We found the Council was at fault in failing to offer Mr Y interim accommodation pending the outcome of its inquiries to ascertain whether he was vulnerable. In recognition of the injustice caused, the Council has agreed to apologise and make a payment to Mr Y and Mr X.

Summary: Mrs N complains about the actions of the Council’s Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Team regarding her daughter’s Education, Health and Care Plan. This includes the new placement it proposed for her daughter, the way it arranged transition planning and poor communications. We cannot look at the school named in the Plan, as the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Tribunal is better suited to look at that issue. We will not investigate Mr X’s complaint about how the Police and Crime Panel considered his complaint about the Police and Crime Commissioner’s conduct.

Summary: Ms X complained the Council did not deliver suitable alternative education to her son when he was unable to attend mainstream education and that it did not deliver specialist provision outlined in his Education, Health and Care Plan. We found fault because the Council did not act decisively to try and secure alternative education for her son and did not have appropriate oversight of what specialist provision was being delivered to him. Summary: We cannot by law investigate this complaint about the Council making purportedly making allegations against the complainant which resulted in her being arrested. This is because the issues raised overlap with matters being investigated by the police.

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about continuity of adult social care when moving to another council area. Any fault of the Council does not cause the injustice of a lack of support once moved, because that was the responsibility of the new authority. There is no worthwhile outcome to justify an investigation. We cannot ask the Council to backdate care it was not responsible for.

Summary: Mr and Mrs X complained about the Council’s actions with a safeguarding referral it received about their child. They said it inappropriately acted with prejudice and on an untrue view of their religion. We did not find fault with the Council’s decision making process. We are satisfied with the Council’s apology with some fault it identified, and this is appropriate for the injustice it caused.

Summary: Mr X complained the Council has not taken enforcement action in relation to breaches of planning control at a site near his home. We found some evidence of fault by the Council, but this did not affect its decision not to take formal enforcement action. The Council agreed to apologise to Mr X for the frustration and uncertainty caused by the fault we found.
