Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about how the Council acquired land close to the complainants property, which a sports club has subsequently been allowed to install football pitches on. This is because the complaint is made late and the courts are better placed to settle disputes about land ownership.

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about Mr X’s access rights over land sold by the Council to a developer. This is because the complaint falls outside our jurisdiction as we would reasonably expect Mr X to take the matter to court.

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about a data protection breach as this is best dealt with by the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Summary: Mr X complains about the Council’s handling of his daughter, B’s transfer from a Statement to an Education, Health and Care Plan, her subsequent annual review and planning for her transition to adulthood. The Council has accepted fault. This fault caused Mr X and B significant distress and uncertainty. It meant B missed out on certain special educational and social care provision. The Council has agreed to apologise to B and her parents, make them each a payment and make several additional service improvements.

Summary: A technical problem in the broadcast of a planning committee meeting was service failure by the Council. However, this problem did not affect the outcome of the meeting, and so there is no injustice to the complainant. It is not fault for the Council’s Chief Executive to not personally reply to correspondence. We have therefore completed our investigation.

Summary: Miss X complained about the Council’s administration of a business grant scheme, its decision on her application and its complaint handling, causing her distress and financial loss. We found the Council at fault causing Miss X injustice. We recommended the Council provide Miss X with an apology, payment for distress, feedback on her grant application and evidence it will carry out Equality Impact Assessments in future.
