Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s refusal to direct a communications company to move an installation. This is because there is not enough evidence of fault by the Council and we cannot achieve any worthwhile outcome for Mr X.

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s response to Mr X’s complaint regarding flags placed on his local high street. This is because an investigation would be unlikely to result in finding fault with the Council’s actions.

Summary: We will not investigate Mr X’s complaint about the Council’s maintenance of a watercourse near his home. There is insufficient evidence of fault to warrant an investigation.

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s investigation into the complainant’s reports of noise nuisance by a neighbour. There is insufficient evidence of fault in the way the Council has reached its conclusion on the case, and we could not achieve a different or worthwhile outcome for the complainant.

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s handling of an antisocial behaviour case which Ms X says unfairly targeted her children. This is because we are unlikely to find evidence of fault by the Council sufficient to warrant an investigation.

Summary: We will not investigate Mr X’s complaint about the Council not processing or responding to a tree felling licence it received from the Forestry Commission to remove from land many trees covered by a Tree Preservation Order, not taking account of its own Climate Change Action Plan, nor using enough resources to deal with such licences. There is insufficient significant personal injustice caused to Mr X by the matters complained of to warrant us investigating.

Summary: We cannot investigate this complaint about the a decision not to seek a criminal prosecution against alleged perpetrators of anti-social behaviour. This is because the issues complained about concern actions taken by the police in connection with the investigation or prevention of crime. We have no jurisdiction to investigate in these circumstances. The Council is also not responsible for the specific issues raised by the complainant.

Summary: X complained about the Council’s decision to approve a planning application for an extension near X’s home. We found fault in the way the Council made its decision, but for which it is likely the outcome of its decision would have been different. We made a recommendation for a remedy for the injustice caused by the fault, which the Council has agreed to carry out.

Summary: We cannot investigate this complaint that a councillor failed to declare business interests as this affects all or most of the people in the Council’s area and so is not within our remit.

Mr X complains about the Council’s refusal to take enforcement action against a neighbour’s fence. The Ombudsman will not investigate this complaint because the complaint is late and there is no reason Mr X could not have complained sooner. It is also the case we cannot question the decision the Council reached because it has considered the matter properly.

Summary: Mr Y complains that inaccurate pre-application planning advice provided by the Council in 2018 contributed to substantial losses when he pursued a planning application which the Council later refused. We have discontinued our investigation into Mr Y’s complaint for the reasons explained in this statement.
