Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s refusal to take enforcement action over a developer’s landscaping works which created a gap in a hedge and allowed public access to Miss X’s property. There is insufficient evidence of fault which would warrant investigation.

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the way the Council considered a complaint about a breach of the code of conduct. We are unlikely to find fault in the Council’s actions.

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about how the Council dealt with a planning application. This is because planning permission has not been granted. Therefore it is not yet possible to determine if the complainant has suffered any significant injustice because of the alleged fault.

Summary: We will not investigate Mr X’s complaint the Council has refused to investigate his standards complaint about the conduct of councillors at a town council who arranged an extraordinary meeting of the full council. There is insufficient injustice and it is not a good use of limited public resources to investigate.

Summary: Mr X complained the Council failed to take enforcement action against his neighbour, who has developed and changed the use of the land, causing disturbance to his amenities. We decided not to investigate further at this stage, because the planning decision-making process is ongoing.

Ms X complains about a lack of planning enforcement by the Council. We will not investigate this complaint because there is no evidence of fault by the Council.

Summary: Mr X complained about the Council’s decision to seek repayment of COVID-19 business grants and that this will cause him financial difficulties. The Council wrongly awarded the grants which was fault. There is no evidence of fault in the Council’s actions to recover the grants after it realised it had paid them in error.

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about the Council’s failure to change Mrs X’s council tax banding and the subsequent liability that arose from it. It would be reasonable for Mrs X to appeal against the bill at the Valuation Tribunal.

Summary: We will not investigate this complaint about how the Council’s Monitoring Officer dealt with a complaint about the conduct of a councillor. This is because we are unlikely to find fault. The complainant’s concerns about how the Council dealt with his request for information was a matter best dealt with by the Information Commissioner’s Office.

This is because there is insufficient evidence of fault by the Council and insufficient evidence of injustice. In addition, complaints about alleged damage need to be dealt with by insurers or the courts.
