While we accept the importance of the timely implementation of the proposed Bill, we recognise the concerns raised by our witnesses about the effect this may have on the NHS and the care sector; both of which have been put under unprecedented strain during the covid-19 pandemic. The Government must be alive to the need for flexibility in the timetable for implementation as the scale of the post-pandemic backlog becomes clearer.
