Conclusion
Physical activity remains insufficiently prioritised across government despite extensive evidence of its central role in prevention and healthy ageing. Tackling physical inactivity requires political leadership and cross-departmental collaboration—recognising that supporting people to age well will not be achieved by health alone. To make this a reality the government needs to create mechanisms that incentivise Departments and local government to jointly address traditionally siloed and fragmented efforts.
