Conclusion
The current regulatory framework does not create a level playing field across all settings where food is purchased, largely ignores the out-of-home sector, has a blind spot around delivery apps and is littered with loopholes that ultimately undermine the intended health improvement outcomes from these policies. We are concerned by insufficient thinking about the role that the out-of-home sector might play in improving the nation’s diet and urge the government to work to better understand this sector.
