We welcome the General Medical Council’s new targets to eliminate disproportionate complaints from employers about ethnic minority doctors (by 2026) and eradicate disadvantage and discrimination in medical education and training (by 2031). The Nursing and Midwifery Council must introduce parallel targets to eliminate disproportionate complaints from employers about ethnic minority nurses and midwives and to eradicate disadvantage and discrimination in nursing and midwifery education and training by the same dates.
