The development of Competition and Market Authority’s (CMA) remedies and Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 (VSA) reform should be coordinated to ensure alignment, avoid duplication, and minimise unintended consequences. In response to this report, Defra should provide a clear explanation of how the CMA’s interim remedies will interact with longer-term legislative reform. Defra should explain how the reformed VSA will deliver a flexible, future- proof framework that supports workforce development and protects animal welfare. (Recommendation, Paragraph 44)
