It is important for EA to be appropriately resourced to deliver its responsibilities under the PFAS Plan. Delivering this work is a significant undertaking, given the scale and persistence of PFAS contamination, the need for monitoring, permit reviews, regulatory enforcement and technical support to other regulators, and the challenges posed by scientific uncertainty and historic contamination. EA’s resources and priorities are considered through established business planning, performance management and governance processes, which provide ongoing oversight of delivery against agreed objectives and enable resource requirements to be reviewed as priorities evolve. Through these arrangements, we will continue to assess EA’s medium and long-term resource needs in relation to PFAS and consider how best to support sustainable delivery, including through options available under Part 2A of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
