We recommend that the Bill provide for a general duty to co-operate on accountable persons in respect of buildings for which there are multiple accountable persons and that the Government publish statutory guidance alongside the Bill setting out the sorts of behaviours that would be expected under such a duty.

The Government agrees with the Committee that the Bill should provide for a general duty to co-operate between Accountable Persons in respect of buildings for which there are multiple Accountable Persons. The Government also agrees with the Committee that statutory guidance should be published alongside the Bill setting out the sorts of behaviours that would be expected under such a duty. The Government will amend the Building Safety Bill to include an express duty to co-operate where there are multiple Accountable Persons for a single building. We also intend to publish statutory guidance alongside the Bill that sets out what behaviours would be expected under such a duty.
