We welcome the government’s plans to raise the standard of homes in the privately rented sector over the next decade. While most renters are satisfied with their homes, a substantial minority of private renters are living in homes that are sub-standard. Poor conditions in the private rented sector are symptomatic of the country’s wider housing crisis, especially the lack of social and affordable housing. (Conclusion, Paragraph 27)
