Prisoners in Wales should not be disadvantaged when it comes to healthcare provision just because they are in prison, nor should they expect better or worse service depending on the prison they are held in. As it stands, the current health board-led model for healthcare provision in Welsh prisons is failing to ensure that the care prisoners receive is equivalent to that seen in the community, just as it is failing to provide consistency of service and transparency around service provision.
