We agree with the Minister that it is important to consider the distributional effects of State Pension age increases. The results are felt unevenly. We know that the last increase resulted in a more than doubling of poverty for 65-year-olds. The Minister told us that the government’s approach to the increase to 67 was focused on communication and supporting later working. However, he had no data to show that this would be effective in preventing a similar increase in poverty this time around. The fact that those affected will be a year older, leads us to fear that the impact may be even greater this time. (Conclusion, Paragraph 59)
