Conclusion
The Minister for Pensions explained that the department’s plans to support the transition to State Pension age for the rise to 67 was to support older workers in the labour market, through initiatives such as WorkWell, Pathways to Work and the Mayfield Review. He did not have data on the likely impact of such measures. Since the impact assessments in 2011 and 2013, we have seen the emergence of new challenges, particularly an increase in work-limiting health conditions, so experience may not be a good guide.
