7.1 The government agrees with the Committee’s recommendation. Target implementation date: Spring 2021 7.2 DHSC and NHSX fully recognise the critical importance of ensuring the right digital skills, capacity and capabilities are in place across the health and social care system. Without these, the digital transformation of the NHS will not succeed. Therefore, the new digital strategy will set out a clear plan to address the digital skills gap at both national and local level. 7.3 The strategy will detail how we will: strengthen the digital skills of existing staff; attract new digital talent into the NHS; build a strong and diverse digital workforce; and offer clear career pathways to recruit and retain digital professionals. It will also outline how we will embed digital skills and capabilities within the wider health and social care workforce, by offering a range of training and development opportunities for staff at all levels.
