The CMA strongly supports the UK Government’s proposals for reform of consumer law enforcement, including enhancements to the civil enforcement process, and the introduction of new administrative enforcement powers, both including the ability to impose penalties for breaches of consumer law. In its response to the UK Government’s consultation on these proposals, the CMA supported the extension of these powers to those sector regulators who wish to enforce consumer law through an administrative model.
