The Government recognises the important role schools can play in helping children to be active in and around the school day. This can include high-quality PE, introducing active uniform, encouraging active travel and increased opportunities through wider school provision, including breakfast clubs and other wraparound activities. Through our wider work on PE, school sport and physical activity, we will continue to support schools to create environments that encourage pupils to be active, while allowing flexibility to respond to local needs and circumstances. Partnerships will have an outcome to reduce inactivity, and we envisage that supporting practice during and around the school day will be part of it.
