We recognise and respect the sensitivity surrounding Special Forces operations.
Conclusion
We recognise and respect the sensitivity surrounding Special Forces operations. However, the “no comment” approach is inappropriate for matters of administrative decision-making, data handling and accountability for resettlement casework. Serious questions have been raised about the governance arrangements under which Special Forces personnel contributed to immigration casework and data handling affecting former Afghan partner forces. Special Forces’ involvement must not prevent Parliament and the public from understanding how administrative failings occurred, whether lessons have been learned, and whether senior accountability has been exercised.
