The Department already publishes data on T Level withdrawals in its annual T Level statistics, which are available at Explore education statistics – GOV.UK (explore-education-statistics.service.gov.uk). In addition, the Department commissions a Technical Education Learner Survey. The survey tracks the destinations of students taking T Levels, the T Level Transition Programme and other Level 3 technical qualifications. The survey covers information such as progression to further study, reasons for not progressing as planned, and progression into employment. This includes students who leave a T Level course before completion and covers a range of student characteristics, including gender, ethnicity, eligibility for free school meals (FSM) and students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This will enable us to track whether students who took the Transition Programme have an increased likelihood of dropping out of the T Level as the numbers of students progressing from the Transition Programme grow over time. The Department will continue to keep the data we publish on the Transition Programme and T Levels under review to ensure it meets the needs of users.
