We are under no illusions, however, that we still have much to do. As the Committee’s report set out, White pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds continue to lag behind. There are many reasons for this, but we know that the best way to address this is to continue to strive to ensure that every child has access to a great education, and we remain committed to levelling the playing field to make sure every child gets a world-class education, whatever their background and wherever they live.
