Week commencing 6 July 2026
The Truth Recovery Independent Panel published its final report on Monday 6 July, four volumes with an executive summary and 70 recommendations, drawing on 284 testimonies concerning Northern Ireland's mother and baby institutions, Magdalene laundries and workhouses. The Panel's work precedes the statutory inquiry legislated for the week before; its report noted that a chairperson for the public inquiry has not yet been appointed.
Two inquiries sat through the week. The Lampard Inquiry heard evidence over four days (Days 45 to 48) in its July 2026 block, examining mental health inpatient deaths in Essex. The Undercover Policing Inquiry continued Tranche 3 (Phase 3), publishing transcripts for Days 14 to 16, together with a further transcript from Phase 1 of the tranche.
