Non-statutory independent inquiry into the wrongful conviction of Andrew Malkinson for rape and the 17 years he spent wrongly imprisoned. Chaired by HHJ Sarah Munro KC, it examines the roles of Greater Manchester Police, the Crown Prosecution Service and the Criminal Cases Review Commission. The Inquiry resumed after the conclusion of Rex v Paul Quinn. Its 15 July 2026 update says Phase 2 work is continuing, including disclosure, forensic review and identifying witnesses. No final report date has been announced.
