Recommendation 19: Early inter-disciplinary meeting and parental involvement
From The Report of the Inquiry into the Removal of Children from Orkney in February 1991, published 27 October 1992.
Recommendation
In any case of child sexual abuse an inter-disciplinary meeting should be held at the earliest stage (15.39). Parents should usually be informed from the outset that the suspicion exists and that the matter is being investigated. Their co-operation should be sought (15.40-41). Consideration should be given to making enquiries of adults rather than of the children (15.42) and enquiries should be discreetly made from every available relevant source (15.43).
Government response
No government response to this recommendation is on the record yet.
Delivery
