If in the light of the Inquiry report the Senior Presiding Judge were to propose the amendment of the relevant directions, then the Committee would be content. However, members were unanimously of the view that the Practice Directions remain the more appropriate source of authority for the arrangements concerned and that Criminal Procedure Rules should not be substituted for those Directions.
