31. Awaab’s Law already requires social landlords to fix significant damp and mould hazards and all emergency hazards for properties let under a tenancy. This includes any temporary accommodation in the social rented sector let under a tenancy. 32. We will soon be consulting on extending the scope of Awaab’s Law to the private rented sector as provided for by the Renters’ Rights Act 2025. This would include accommodation let under tenancies in the private rented sector which is used as temporary accommodation. The consultation will also seek views on extending Awaab’s Law to temporary accommodation that is occupied under licence in both the private and social rented sectors. Alongside this, the consultation will invite input on implementation, including the timescales for the rollout. 33. We will consider this recommendation as part of our response to the consultation.
