Conclusion
The provision of education and advice for homeowners will be vital to the success of commonhold. Many leaseholders are positive about the prospect of commonhold but will need impartial legal advice and guidance to take advantage of their new rights. We support the government’s plan to expand the Leasehold Advisory Service’s (LEASE) provision of advice and guidance on commonhold, and to direct the organisation to prioritise this aspect of its existing remit in the coming years. However, as a small organisation with 110 a modest number of employees, LEASE will likely need to expand its staff capacity to prepare for the transition to commonhold, while continuing its current service provision for leasehold blocks.
