Conclusion
Intertrade UK has the potential to be a key source of advice and solutions for the UK Government, but its Board membership needs to be broader to ensure that the east-west trade challenges faced by GB-based businesses are considered. It has taken longer than necessary for the Government to establish Intertrade UK. We expect more agility now it is funded and its work programme is in place. We plan to engage with it and may suggest pieces of work for it to undertake. (Conclusion, Paragraph 39)
Government Response Summary
The government welcomes the committee's reflections on Intertrade UK and endorses its potential as a source of advice, noting that it is now implementing its work programme. However, the response does not address the committee's concern about broadening Board membership or the time taken for establishment.

Acknowledged
The Government welcomes the Committee’s reflections on Intertrade UK and endorses its view that the organisation can be a key source of advice, as it has already demonstrated in its numerous letters to us on a wide range of internal market trade issues. We are pleased that Intertrade UK are now moving swiftly to implement the first year of its work programme and would encourage the Committee to recommend pieces of work as they see fit.
