Whilst investment by Government in early stage and demonstrator reactors will drive forward innovation for advanced modular reactors (AMRs), bringing them closer to commercialisation, what is also important is the UK having a regulatory environment and incentives for private investment. This has been demonstrated to work in the UK’s fusion sector, where as well as strong Government funded demonstrator programme, the regulatory system, skills environment and developing supply chain, is attracting private companies and private investment to the UK.
