The Government refuses to tolerate violence against women and girls (VAWG) and will deliver the manifesto commitments to ban the creation of sexually explicit deepfakes and halve VAWG within a decade. DSIT is working with the Home Office and the Ministry of Justice to identify the most appropriate legislative vehicle to introduce this measure, which will ensure those who create these images without consent face the appropriate punishment.
