We agree that understanding who is publishing material is an important step in reducing the risk that platforms are used to promote fraudulent content. Under the Online Safety Bill, the government will have the power to introduce secondary legislation mandating identity verification where necessary. We will continue to engage with the FCA on this issue and consider the evidence for requiring platforms to conduct KYC checks on their advertisers.
