The Government has now confirmed £1 billion of funding over the next three years for school sport. This includes £11m funding for the School Games Organisers (SGO) Network until the end of the 2026/27 Financial Year (March 2027). DfE will shortly be launching a competitive tendering process to procure a National Delivery Partner to deliver the PE and School Sport Partnerships Network. Once appointed, the National Delivery Partner will be expected to review and assess the current delivery mechanisms in place for school sport, to determine the most appropriate, effective way to deliver the new partnerships model. SGOs will have a role in this and it will take into account the independent review of the SGO Network and its recommendations, published by Sport England in July 2025.6 The National Delivery Partner (once procured) will also be expected to establish the new PE and School Sport Partnerships Network, which will consist of existing organisations within the sector. Leaning on the current infrastructure, existing expertise from local and regional partners, Sport England, and NGBs. This Network aims to strengthen partnerships, identify and address barriers to PE, sport and physical activity, particularly for the least active children.
