In its Immigration White Paper the Government said the levy would be reinvested in the higher education and skills system. It should confirm whether it expects revenue from the levy to pay for other areas of the skills system in addition to higher education maintenance grants. (Recommendation, Paragraph 278)

PLANS ALREADY IN PLACE The Government has confirmed in the International Student Levy technical consultation document that the revenue from the levy will pay for other areas of the skills system in addition to higher education maintenance grants. The income raised by this levy will be fully reinvested into higher education and skills, including the reintroduction of targeted maintenance grants for priority courses, progression through the post-16 system, and for wider skills. Future decisions on the deployment of the levy proceeds will be set out at the next Spending Review.
