Partially agree. We acknowledge the Committee’s concerns about the potential harms created by digital replicas. We simultaneously recognise that digital replicas can be a powerful tool, including for the creative industries, but real-world harm can be caused by someone’s likeness being replicated without their permission. We agree with the Committee that this is an important area of work requiring further investigation. It is for this reason that in March 2026, the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, Liz Kendall MP, announced that the Government will launch a consultation in the summer. The consultation will seek views on how we address potential harms from digital replicas, while protecting legitimate innovation and freedom of expression. We would encourage the Committee to share their expertise as part of this consultation once it launches.
