The Government recognises that success in Barrow is not optional. This is why the former Cabinet Secretary, the Rt Hon the Lord Case CVO was then appointed as Chair in 2025 to lead the Team Barrow partnership. Team Barrow brings together the skills, funding, and capabilities of central government, local government, BAE Systems, businesses, and the community. This working partnership puts Barrow’s community at the centre while ensuring the delivery of a vital government priority and significant cross government investment. As highlighted, alongside the £200 million Transformation Fund, the Government has announced plans to provide £7 million to upgrade the Alfred Barrow Health Centre. In addition, £20 million is being invested in Barrow Central as part of the Pride in Place Programme, which will further empower Barrow’s communities to drive change in their town centre. The Government has provided funding for a £5 million Social Impact Fund to improve the resilience of Barrow’s third sector, through grants to community and voluntary organisations. This is alongside funding for a Barrow Work and Health Fund, which will enable local people to thrive and participate in the workforce. The Government is maximising the expertise of Homes England so that its growing workforce. Homes England has also provided over £24 million of investment through the Brownfield, Infrastructure and Land Fund to unlock around 1,350 high-quality homes at Marina Village. The Government will continue to ensure that the ambition set out by Team Barrow is met.
